Celebrating Your Accomplishments Midway Through #PickUpPinellas

This year we had to start the Great American Cleanup (GAC) a little later, and working together to keep Pinellas County beautiful looks a bit different than usual. So we launched #PickUpPinellas, which runs from July to the end of September in tandem with this year’s GAC. Instead of gathering in our typical large groups, we’re encouraging volunteers in small, safe groups to clean the areas near where they live.

What Is #PickUpPinellas?

#PickUpPinellas is a grassroots cleanup event that anyone can participate in. People around the county clean their blocks and neighborhoods, picking up trash before it can end up in storm drains. Our wonderful volunteers have been working solo and in small groups to get litter off their neighborhood streets.

We’re so proud of everyone who’s participated so far! In celebration, we’d like to highlight the program and its participants as of today. We appreciate every group and individual who has taken the time to #PickUpPinellas with us, and we’re excited to see your posts on social media! Since beginning #PickUpPinellas on July 1st, our wonderful volunteers have picked up 185.3 lbs. of litter in their own neighborhoods and around the county, and shared their successes through amazing photographs.

It looks like everyone’s having a great time! Thank you to each and every person who has participated, and to those who have upcoming cleanups scheduled.
