Education Program Assistant

Jaya first joined Keep Pinellas Beautiful as a volunteer in 2016, when she was president of her high school’s environmental club. She was then hired as the second half of the education team in May of 2024. She focuses on overseeing and coordinating education and outreach programs in elementary and middle schools across Pinellas County.

Growing up in Saint Petersburg, Jaya has a long-standing history with environmental education in both formal and non-formal settings. Before working for KPB, Jaya worked in public Title I schools across Pinellas County as a literacy program assistant coordinator with YReads and as the lead coordinator for Sensing Nature’s college internship program. She continues to work as a recreation specialist with Boyd Hill Nature Preserve facilitating camps and other educational programs. Jaya’s passion for nature and global environmental policies led her to earn two degrees in environmental science and international studies from Emory University. She is very excited and honored to have the opportunity to contribute to and expand KPB’s education program while aiming to inspire and empower the next generation of environmental activists and leaders.

In her free time, Jaya enjoys writing artsy pen pal letters, volunteering at urban vegetable gardens, leading field trips at nature preserves, learning languages, painting, climbing trees, and swimming at the beach with her pomsky.
